Maurice Ravel's music, reimagined exclusively for eight cellos, takes on a transformative quality in a unique dance and live music performance, made possible through the collaboration with Šeiko Dance Company and for the occasion enlarged Klaipėda cello Quartet.
Based on his distinctive obstruction technique, choreographer Palle Granhøj restricts the dancers' movements and establishes specific repetitive movements that align with the rhythm of Ravel’s “Boléro.” The deconstructed music is presented in a refreshing and compelling way, enhancing the overall experience as it subverts the conventional dance performance by bringing the orchestra to the stage on which the musicians move along with dancers.
